A OF TIME (ἐπειδή is more freq. in this sense in Prose), after that, since, when, from Hom. downwds.:

1 of a definite occurrence in past time, mostly c. [tense] aor., ἐπεί π' εὔξαντο after they had prayed, Il.1.458;
